Descriptive text and plane diagrams and stereodiagrams of the structures of myoglobin and hemoglobin (sperm whale, horse, and human). Ten stereodiagrams illustrate the molecular skeleton; six illustrate the heme surrounds; 10 illustrate the interfaces between hemoglobin subunits; eight illustrate methemoglobin helices. The closing section covers human fetal and abnormal hemoglobins. The red-green spectacles needed for stereo resolution of the stereodiagrams are carried in a pocket inside the back cover. The stereo resolution will take viewers 10 to 20 seconds to perceive unless the stereodiagrams are viewed at distances of 50 to 80 cm.
