Nowhere is the two-way bridge between internal medicine and surgery better shown than in the area of infectious diseases. Internists frequently require surgical assistance for biopsies or drainage procedures, and our surgical colleagues often seek help in diagnosing or managing particularly difficult infections or fevers of undetermined origin. I know of no reference source that comes to the aid of both groups as well as this amazing book.
I say amazing deliberately. The editors -both surgeons -have recruited the expertise of over 70 contributors to produce a text that is encyclopedic, yet readable.
