The editors state that this monograph is "aimed at medical students, houseofficers, and physicians in other disciplines who evaluate patients with vascular disease." This goal has not been achieved. Instead, this book by 24 surgeons and four radiologists comprehensively reviews the surgical approach to peripheral vascular disease and would be most useful for surgical residents and others preparing for Board certification in the surgical specialties. The editors seem to recognize this; in their preface they describe in detail the training in vascular surgery required by surgical residency review committees.
