To the editor: After reading the article by Greenberg and associates (1), I was left wondering if a typographical error had been made on the dose of alcohol. The authors stated they gave an ethanol dose of 0.9 g/kg body weight; a 70 kg man would have reached 63 g of ethanol. One would need 157 mL of 80-proof vodka to provide that much alcohol. Did they really ask their patients to drink 165 mL of vodka in less than 10 minutes? The serum alcohol levels listed would tend to support that intrepretation; the patients would have been legally drunk
