To the editor: Recently, disseminated Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare infection was reported among homosexuals and drug abusers with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (1). Earlier this year we reported via the Centers for Disease Control an outbreak of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome among Haitians in Miami (2). Ten of the 20 patients had a recent history of tuberculosis or concurrent tuberculosis, and in 8 patients the tuberculosis was disseminated. These eight Haitian patients with disseminated tuberculosis associated with the syndrome represent 26% of all Haitian patients with disseminated tuberculosis counted by Dade County Public Health Department from January 1979 through September 1982.
