For anyone interested in genetics, molecular biology, and inherited metabolic disorders in humans this textbook is one of three that I highly recommend. To date, it has the most current information of all texts in this subspecialty, and this edition has been expanded, appropriately, to include many heritable disorders of proteins for which the molecular basis of functional impairment is understood. Thus, not only are there sections on the traditional metabolic disorders of carbohydrate, amino acid, and lipid metabolism, but also fundamental introductions to molecular biology and in-depth sections on disorders of blood-forming elements, hemoglobins, and immune mechanisms.
