This videotape is 1 part of a 12-program series on surgical intensive care. The program on bedside monitoring is described in its promotional literature as "a comprehensive insight, previously available only in the laboratory, into cardiovascular monitoring." In fact, it is a brief overview.
The program includes the rationale for invasive monitoring, a discussion of equipment, the selection of an entry site for arterial catheterization, the theory and workings of the thermodilution cardiac output computer, and the use of a programmable calculator to find derived hemodynamic and respiratory parameters.
Obviously, none of these topics can be covered in any detail
