The tenth edition of Harrison's follows the ninth in principle. In practice, certain changes have been made and these are listed in the preface. Twenty-three new chapters discuss diseases of the autonomic nervous system, tachycardias and bradycardias (emphasizing the electrophysiology), recombinant DNA, the HLA system, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, air pollution, and recently discovered Legionella species. Sections covering gastroenterology, neurology, and psychiatry have been extensively revised, and the metabolic pathway section has been updated.
