Most of the articles have the brevity and style of dictionary definitions; the others extend beyond the usual limits of definition and provide descriptions akin to text one might find in a concise textbook. The format for articles runs entry terms and text together, with much potential for confusion. Articles on nomenclature and symbols would be more useful in medical authorship and publishing if they included references to the authoritative sources, such as the WHO memoranda on immunoglobulins, rather than secondary sources like textbooks. Most physicians not in laboratory medicine or laboratory-intensive clinical disciplines would not be likely to need
