To the editor: We read with interest the paper by Bellone and associates (1) on an association of autoimmume thrombocytopenia with carcinoma, and we wish to report the case of a patient with autoimmune thrombocytopenia associated with monoclonal gammopathy and prostatic carcinoma.
A 82-year-old white man presented with thrombocytopenic purpura. After a detailed study no cause was found for the thrombocytopenia although an antiplatelet antibody determination was 0.15 X 10-9 g of IgG per platelet (control, 0.07 X 1012 g of IgG per platelet).
