Despite of the recent flurry of publications in microbiology and infectious diseases, few texts based on visual presentations of organisms as they are seen in the clinical laboratory had appeared until the first edition of this atlas. The authors designed the book specifically for students and others being introduced to clinical microbiology. The second edition includes updated material on Vibrio, Camplyobacter, Yersinia, Clostridium difficile, and legionellosis.
The strongest and most attractive feature of the book is its color plates. Although a few examples of distorted colony structure can be found (for example Campylobacter and Streptococcus pneumoniae), the illustrations are elegant
to gain full access to the content and tools.
