As internal medicine becomes increasingly a specialty of the later decades, a keen interest in geriatrics as a subspecialty has surfaced. In this book, the contributors explore the pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of atherosclerotic vascular disease and hypertension with the intention of emphasizing clinical issues especially pertinent to the elderly.
As a clinical gerontologic text, the book has little to offer. Only in the chapters on hypertension is there a discussion of differential diagnosis and almost all of this material can be found in any standard reference book of internal medicine.
