Medical knowledge and medical literature continue to grow at an unprecedented rate, and most physicians, students, or librarians find it impossible to evaluate all the available texts and journals in internal medicine and its subspecialties. The American College of Physicians first responded to the needs for evaluation of books and journals by developing and publishing "A Library for Internists" (1) in 1973.
