To the editor: Those of us who were in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict remember well a peculiar diagnosis temed "postinfectious mononucleosis asthenia." This diagnosis was made in those persons with definite infectious mononucleosis who complained of fatigue, poor exercise tolerance, and depression after all clinical signs of illness were over.
