Medical education lags in training doctors to meet the needs of the increasing number of patients with chronic diseases. Medical schools generally place more emphasis on the scientific aspects of disease than on the patient as a person. The authors of this book, family practice trainers in the Oxford area, present a holistic approach to care of the chronically ill. Throughout the book the behavioural aspects of illness and compliance are addressed and a team approach advocated.
