As the title suggests this book is intended to present an overview of an important new discipline; it is not a book for every reader. It will not help the total novice decide whether to purchase a computer nor will it help computer owners select from the available software. The book is not comprehensive enough to serve as a reference for scholarly research. It is a primer on computer fundamentals, as well as a general overview on software developed for medical applications.
A chapter on computer fundamentals (primarily microcomputers) introduces the data-processing language, and describes the parts of the computer.
