To the editor: Angelillo and coworkers (1) tried to show that the low carbohydrate diet was associated with a significant decrease in arterial PCO2 and that spirometric results were significantly improved at the end of the study. We are not told when and how arterial blood gas measurement and spirometric tests were done, nor are we told the reproducibility of such measurements in their laboratory. I question the validity of reporting arterial blood gas partial pressures to two decimal places and wonder whether the difference between a PCO2 of 49 and 47.50 mm Hg is statistically significant in view of
