To the editor: From their study of the use of intrahepatic or systemic infusion of fluorodeoxyuridine in patients with liver metastases from colorectal Carcinoma, Kemeny and colleagues (1) concluded that intrahepatic administration produced more responses than systemic administration although survival was statistically not improved. I would like to address two aspects of the paper.
The abstract fails to indicate the p value for the analysis of survival. Although survival duration in months is shown as quantitatively different, the omission of this critical evaluation is a severe deficiency.
