Neurologic diseases related to the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) were first reported in 1983. The incidence of these disorders has increased rapidly and neurologic disease has become a well-known complication of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This multiauthored book is the first about AIDS and the nervous system, and a timely addition to the AIDS literature. The authors present a comprehensive and accurate review of the clinical and biological aspects of HIV-related neurologic disorders. Most of the 19 chapters present the authors' personal experiences as well as a thorough, nearly up-to-date review of the literature.
