Both of these books can be recommended to patients who wish to learn how to shift to healthier eating habits and selections. The Goldbecks' book is a detailed manual that opens with a general introductory section on food additives, packaging, and labeling, and includes chapters on the main classes of foods (nuts, cereals, pasta, fish, meat, and so on) with discussions of characteristics, merits and demerits, and preferred tradenamed products. The Goors' book is half on good nutrition with emphasis on the problems of saturated fats and cholesterol and half on recipes; it closes with comprehensive food tables.
