To the editor: Some of our results differ with those in the article on aeromonas intestinal infections (1). Between June 1982 and June 1986 we cultured all fecal samples that were submitted to the Regional Public Health Laboratory in Tilburg for Aeromonas. Unlike in the study of Holmberg and associates, we used a semiselective blood agar plate with ampicillin, 10 mg/L (2), with which we could detect small numbers of Aeromonas in fecal samples as well. When a fecal sample contained Aeromonas, the patient and the physician were contacted and asked for clinical data and a repeated fecal culture (3).
