Tsung O. Cheng was born in China, graduated from medical school at St. John's University in Shanghai, and completed his postgraduate training in the United States. He was a student of Dr. Paul D. White, for whom his Boston-born son, Mark Dudley Cheng, is named. A short forward by Mrs. White stresses that the study of common medical problems unifies physicians and peoples of the world. Dr. Cheng was the first Chinese-American physician to visit China in 1972. Like Dr. White, he believes that cardiology is the world's best ambassador.
