It takes determined detective work to discover, in the preface, that the articles in this book were presentations at the 1984 Annual Meeting of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. Usually it is disconcerting to make this discovery when you believed the editors had carefully selected specific works. The wide range of topics is thus explained, but this is probably the book's only flaw. There are excellent review chapters covering research on treatment, by Gawin and Kleber, and diagnosis and treatment, by Crowley.
