Two experienced and respected editors have assembled the third edition of a comprehensive treatise on inflammatory bowel disease. Anyone who thinks this book is a retread of an outdated classic is mistaken. Of the 44 contributing authors, 32 are newly recruited, and every chapter is almost completely rewritten. Each of the 33 chapters is essentially a critical review of literature representing the synthesis of mostly North American thought. The book begins with in-depth, state-of-the-art discussions of epidemiology, etiology, and pathogenesis; these discussions make up almost 25% of the book.
