There are approximately 80 000 chemicals and other substances used commercially in the United States with perhaps 2000 more added each year. Each of them is potentially toxic. Workers at chemical plants, factories, construction sites, offices, hospitals, farms, mines, and dozens of other worksites are exposed to them every day.
