For many physicians, the standard source for drug information is Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacologic Basis of Therapeutics. This source can be supplemented by any number of specialized texts that deal with a specific area, such as cardiovascular disease or cancer treatment. While Goodman and Gilman's text serves well as a reference text, it does not function very effectively as a teaching tool.
