To the Editor: Dr. Bankowitz and colleagues (1) are to be congratulated for their report on a computer-assisted medical diagnostic consultation service. We have also evaluated a computerized diagnostic system, which is being used in the internal medicine service of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. The system concerned is the Medicomp system, developed by Medicomp of Virginia Inc., Fairfax, Virginia. This system has a knowledge base that contains information on 3000 diseases and their associated symptoms, physical signs, and tests.
