A close, detailed, and thoughtful look at the problems of health as they are perceived and experienced by women. The focus is, not unexpectedly, on sexual and reproductive problems but other psychosocial and organic problems to which women are more vulnerable also get attention. This is not a "how-to-take-care-of-them" practical manual but more an analytical look at the interplay of disorder and patient and the possibilities for responses and adaptations. A substantial addition to the literature on the health of women and their care. (EJH)
