About a dozen books on problems in gastroenterology have appeared in the last few years. This newcomer reads well and does not give the impression of having 15 different contributors (mostly from Hope Hospital in Salford, England). The authors did not try to cover all important aspects of gastroenterology (there is no treatise on appendicitis), and some inclusions (ten lines on merycism [rumination]) are of questionable value.
