Book I surveys a wide range of geriatric problems (for example, incontinence, osteopenia, hearing impairment, and women's specific problems) and offers practical advice on diagnosis, assessment, and treatment. It also provides 178 multiple-choice questions for self-testing and 606 annotated references to books and journal articles. The appendix offers several functional and emotional assessment instruments. Book II repeats the questions and gives the answers, which are discussed in some detail and referenced to one or more book or journal sources. The syllabus is truly clinical meat-and-potatoes. Recommended not only as a self-assessment instrument but also as a clear and down-to-earth primer
