Since its founding in 1915, the American College of Physicians (ACP) has espoused a commitment to "enlighten and direct public opinion with regard to the great problems of health and medicin" and to ensure "the enactment of just medical laws." It is fully consonant with this mandate that the College comment on issues related to assuring that needed health services are available in this nation.
