To the Editors: In a recent issue of ACP Observer, you indicated that you were interested in focusing on material that would "help . . . in the day-to-day practice of [the] profession." To this end, you could follow through on the recent initiative by Annals of Internal Medicine to use only SI units in its articles. This change has made the articles less useful to practicing physicians, as laboratory results on patients are still reported almost exclusively in traditional units. This dichotomy inhibits the rapid and intuitive transfer of material from articles to use in the clinic.
