In our position paper on therapeutic substitution (1), we incorrectly cite cefazolin and cefotaxime as an example of therapeutic equivalents with the same pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties. The drugs are first- and third-generation cephalosporins. In reality, it is difficult to identify two drugs with exactly the same properties; the College's position paper deals with substitution of drugs with similar pharmacologic and therapeutic properties, as occurs in actual practice. We regret the error.
