Papers on relevant physiology and on diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal, gastric, small-intestinal, and colorectal disorders of motility by eminent clinicians who have led in studying them, in defining criteria for diagnosis, and in developing treatment. This book is firmly oriented toward these disorders as clinical problems and should be useful to gastroenterologists and general internists who see them frequently. The original basis for this book was a symposium held in Chicago in May 1987, but this is a well-integrated and sequenced and thoroughly documented text, not a collection of weakly linked separate papers.
