To the Editors: Zielinski and Lawrence (1) reported the case of a patient with the hypereosinophilic syndrome who was successfully treated with interferon-á. Independently of their studies, we initiated interferon-á therapy in two patients with this syndrome who could not be managed with conservative treatment. Both patients had the syndrome according to standard criteria (2), and chromosomal abnormalities had been ruled out by repeated cytogenetic analyses (courtesy of Professor Fonatsch, Lübeck, Federal Republic of Germany).
