Few authors have tried to describe the therapeutic modalities used to treat fungal infections, largely because relatively few antifungal agents are available, serious fungal infections develop infrequently, and these illnesses are confined to referral medical centers. Changes in medical care, particularly in care for complications resulting from technologic advances in medicine, have made fungal infections common and have made this book very timely.
