In the introduction to this gem, Bennett points out that he began his search of the literature using the Index Medicus heading "Wit and Humor" and then proceeded to review additional databases. He found that the indexing of medical humor was uneven and subsequently spent an additional 12 months compiling useful material. He did not say how much more time was required for this compiled and edited collection of published medical humor to become a book.
