Joe Perloff properly possesses a missionary zeal toward insuring the smooth passage of the congenital heart patient from the pediatrician to the adult cardiologist. His thesis: "Don't leave the care of these patients to chance but rather arrange for expert care and systematic follow-up." His adult congenital heart clinic at UCLA has been a model for other such clinics throughout the country.
