For me, as a medical student and house officer, one of the best sources of information about cancer was the American Cancer Society's Clinical Oncology textbook. Although never professing to provide a comprehensive discussion, its concise chapters were immediately accessible and germane. Despite the fact that the last edition of this book was published almost a decade ago, Clinical Oncology still occupies a well-used space on my bookshelf. Since the last publication of this book, oncology has undergone a considerable metamorphosis.
