in two containers floating placidly
specimen No. 1 lifted out
labeled by dispassionate hands
ovary measured, weighed
the external surface splayed on a countertop
distorted so much
by a large once secret
cystic structure now exposed
filled with old
material like a failed heart
specimen No. 2 large, scarred
labeled utterly useless
uterus no matter that
opening reveals a creation of sorts
a mass suggestive of life
with fleshy-pink formed
whorled surface inside
the cavity which
is compressed at last
by the mass cut to
