Physicians familiar with The Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy will know what to expect from this new pocket manual that covers the diagnosis and treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Outlines and detailed tables cover all clinically relevant aspects of the HIV-AIDS problem—diagnostic criteria and procedures, drugs and their proper use—and associated infections and diseases. Special attention is given to particular topics, such as pregnancy, immunization, travel, and drug—drug interactions. The type size of the text is perilously close to illegible, but those who could read the earlier manual will be able to read this one. The price makes such a detailed and useful manual a bargain.
