Many of the terms defined in this new dictionary are also defined in general medical dictionaries and especially in a few specialized dictionaries, such as those covering epidemiology. This book is superior, however, in offering many more definitions of statistical terms and operations, and it is conspicuously superior in offering equations, illustrative tables of data, and graphic figures. Many definitions are cross-referenced with other relevant definitions. Physicians working in clinical trials programs and clinical epidemiologists should find this dictionary a useful addition to their shelves, even if they already own John Last's Dictionary of Epidemiology (Oxford University Press).
