The third section, organized by organ system, contains the bulk of the content. Material within each chapter is organized by laboratory test and by disease. For example, the hematology chapter first lists the common hematologic tests, when to order them, and the differential diagnosis of abnormal results; the remainder comprises the definition, cause, and laboratory evaluation of various hematologic diseases.
