Content: The book is divided into 9 chapters. The first is an overview of general strategies that may be used to care for culturally diverse populations, including a concise and practical guide to working with interpreters. The last calls for system change to improve the care of these populations. The 7 chapters in between concentrate on specific ethnic, racial, or cultural groups: African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Arab Americans and American Muslims, and immigrants. In addition, a section is devoted to spirituality and religion in health care. For the time-limited reader, each section stands alone and focuses on specific demographic, communication, and health issues for each group, and each section also includes valuable references.
