Content: The book frames issues related to the recognition of bioterrorist events: hospital preparedness and response. The first section on historical information is interesting but not essential. The following sections on improving hospital readiness; response, prevention, detection, and treatment of biological agents; and tabletop exercises are comprehensive and timely. Appendices offer a drug and vaccine compendium, information on smallpox vaccination, and lessons learned from Top Officials (TOPOFF) 1 and 2.
