Opioid misuse and related morbidity and mortality has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. Well-informed physicians and other clinicians are a critical component in the battle against this epidemic that is taking the lives of many Americans and ruining the lives of many more. To help provide the information that clinicians need to understand, prevent, and treat opioid misuse, Annals of Internal Medicine publishes a variety of articles related to the topic of opioid misuse.
