In 1935, shortly before his death in a plane crash, the actor-humorist Will Rogers starred in the movie Life Begins at Forty. Since then, this phrase has appeared in songs by Sophie Tucker and John Lennon. In this issue, a study by Jena and colleagues (1) reminds us that men older than 40 years remain sexually active, even if they need chemical assistance to do so. This study also serves as a reminder that sex after age 40 years is not necessarily safe.

Forty the salt and pepper of life and spice of sexuality

In most of the nations the numbers of people around forty form the majority of the population. Obesity, diabetes and coronary artery diseases affect these majority. The intake of drugs and physical disability with dwindling sexual activity affect their psychosocial domain of life. Apart from that sexual promiscuity and potency enhancing drugs influence their sexual life and the complications that follow.

In such a context premature ejaculation and loss of libido, prolonged ejaculatory span form the major concern of these segment of population. The nation need to take care of these population their natural investment of economic boon. Their sexual health in short will be a health concern for nations to ponder.
