Six patients with unequivocal evidence of a hypercoagulable state were studied through one, two, or three complete cycles of exacerbation and remission. Included were patients with [1] purpura fulminans, [2] acute leukemia with migratory thrombophlebitis, [3] anaphylactic reaction after intravenous injection of iron, [4] prostatic carcinoma, [5] migratory thrombophlebitis after ingestion of an oral gestagen, [6] migratory thrombophlebitis, inferior vena cava thrombosis, and pulmonary emboli occurring on two separate occasions, in each instance after 2 weeks of oral gestagen therapy.
