Both of these guides to treatment continue with familiar arrangement and content. Current Therapy has short chapters on specific diseases and disorders, grouped by system or etiological type; emphasis is on practical details; no references to further reading are supplied. Drugs of Choice is a hybrid between Current Therapy and a textbook of pharmacology; practical details are balanced by discussion of conceptual basis for drug use: References lead into the journal literature.

Drugs of Choice keeps a consistently high level of quality from chapter to chapter. Current Therapy is more uneven in content, a few chapters being grossly inadequate, but
