This fifth volume of a series of monographs on clinical cancer is divided into six sections: general considerations, diagnosis, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, specific neoplasm, and ovarian tumors.

The chapter on combination and sequential chemotherapy in mammary carcinoma, although somewhat superficial, adequately outlines the rationale for combination therapy versus single agent therapy. The chapter on total therapy of acute lymphocytic leukemia clearly presents the approach and remarkable results obtained by the St. Judes Hospital group. Most of the contributors to this volume, however, are surgeons or radiotherapists, and advances in chemotherapy, immunology, and the basic biology of malignancy are not well covered.
